Oxfam 100km Trailwalker: Congratulations Matthew Driscoll

Congratulation to Finsura MD Matthew Driscoll for completing the Oxfam 100Km Trailwalker Fund Raiser over the weekend. Weeks of hard training certainly paid off. Sure Matt is feeling it today. I did a quick email interview with him this morning as per the below:

GD: Amount Raised?

MD: $16,180.00

GD: Time?

MD: The four of us crossed the line in 33.36 hours

GD: Team Place?

MD: 129 out of 228 in our category

GD: Injuries?

MD:  Between the four of us we had back, hip and knee injuries. I ended up with an infection to my left calf with 3 stages to go!!! progressively got worse – ended up at the doctors last night. Pumping myself with antibiotics and looks like I will be on crutches for the next couple of days. All four of us were in a world of pain for the last two stages but all pushed through.

GD: Near Death Story?

MD: No real near death experiences … However we didn’t  feel too good around the 3am mark – feeling semiconscious!!!

GD: Will you do it again?

MD: Never again !!!

GD: What did it feel like when you stopped walking at the end?

MD: An amazing sense of relief. All four of us had our wives and kids meet us at the finish line. Great moment 8 little kids running down the last 20m to welcome us back. The four of us ended up crossing the line together with our kids by our sides – awesome feeling….

Reminder you can still donate to Matt’s team at the following website: https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/team/home/22185
